[My sister and I at the UC game.] My name is Kianie Marie Petit.I was born February 10, 1989 in Okinawa, Japan but raised in Fairfield, Ohio by my parents, Sam & Marites Petit. I have one sister, Kirstie Lynn, who is 18. We also have one dog, Dyna. I graduated from Fairfield Senior High School Class of '07. I played soccer all 4 years of high school and played 1 year of college ball at Cincinnati State. Now I just play for fun with friends. During school all I do is work and school work so I don't have many hobbies. I love trips to the beach with my boyfriend Bear and doing absolutely nothing but lay out, eat, and read.
I am currently working at Lifeline Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician with my sister. I have been working in the pharmacy for 4 years now.
Prior to this year I was a nursing major and took me a while to figure out it wasn't for me. But I always did know I wanted to help people. So what better way than helping people when they're precious little sponges and I can help them be successful in life. May not be their health I'm working on, but their education which is equally important. My major is Middle School Math & Science. I wish to teach science to 4th-5th graders or math to the 7th-9th graders. I've done some in-class observing and reading with students but not much.

1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching, and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers: a. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness.
This standard has been in effect for a long time in education. Teachers have always promoted, supported, and modeled creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness in the past, but with today's technology it can only get better. Today's technology grabs the students' interest even more. Personally, any type of learning that doesn't involve a text book is best for me. As a teacher, by integrating technology, and being creative can promote advanced learning for the students. This way the material is more fun and interactive, leaving a positive memory of the subject matter, therefore students remembering the subject matter after they have taken the final test. Not only after the final test, but helps the students achieve as they get older with technology being apart of everything in everyday life.
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools, and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NESTS-S. Teachers: a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.
From doing my observation hours, I've noticed how much technology has been integrated into the classroom. At Oakdale Elementary, each classroom has enough laptops per student in each class and they use these laptops to their full advantage. They have also made this program available to the parents and students at home. So not only can the teachers see the progress in the student, parents can see all of their students improvements or what they need to improve on. I feel when I was younger my parents didn't really have the resources to help me with my schooling, but with today's technology it makes it easier for parents to keep track of their children and keep their children on track on achieving educational goals. I also think making these digital tools and resources more available in the classroom and at home keeps the students engaged in the subject matter.
3. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers: a. advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property and the appropriate documentation of sources.
Technology has been a great addition into the world of education, but students still need boundaries. As we learned in class, there should always be rules and restrictions to everything in the classroom, as well as with digital access. Before letting the students roam free on the internet or any type of digital program, they need to know the rules and the do's and the dont's. I think the youtube clip we watched in class would be good to show students before using the internet to know what they can and can not do to prevent plagiarism. Also to prevent plagiarism students should know how to cite all of their findings.
